I was contacted by adidas Eyewear's North American division to design product graphics for their sunglass models that were fun but did not distract from the high-performance nature of the product.
In early 2010 I was asked to do a complete redesign for the Tahoe Donner website. The goal was to create an inviting, family friendly feel that was intuitive to navigate and offered the right balance of informative content without overwhelming the user. I was able to take the project from concept to completion, from the initial sketches and layout to programming, even shooting many of the photos used throughout the site.
I was asked by High Fives Non-Profit Foundation and the Johnson family to design a graphic in memorial of CR Johnson, a professional freeskier who died tragically in the winter of 2010. The graphic has been used on tee shirts to bring attention to the CR Johnson Foundation, a fund which was established to offer injured athletes access to alternative and homeopathic medical treatment.
Collaborating with a team ranging from the Head Chef to Interior Designer to Accountants, I led the graphic design component of a complete rebrand for the Lake Tahoe-area restaurant, which included a new website, revamped logo, redesigned menu, style guide and advertising collateral. This rebrand led to a 30% increase in guest visits over the prior year despite the down economy.
A poster created to celebrate the '09 cycling season, printed in a limited run for friends and family. A small amount are also currently available in the shop.
In the spring of '09 I was approached by independent startup Slant Skis for a complete design package. The project included creative direction, logo development, business cards and identity, ski graphics and a website. This was an extremely fun project to work on, as it was a blank slate, allowing for a lot of creative freedom but also a definitive direction that the owner wanted to go in. I love working with passionate people, especially young companies that are carving out their own niche.
Ad comp for Hugo Boss fragrance. The brief called for an overall feel that invoked youth, music and nightlife. I used a mix of hand-drawn illustration, watercolor and digital techniques to create texture and feeling. I also wanted to blend a highly illustrated, somewhat rough look with the more classic, modernist style that is typical of the brand. Unfortunately, this ad was not chosen, but I still had a lot of fun throughout the entire process.

Tahoe Donner is a resort association in the Lake Tahoe area with over six thousand home sites and a variety of amenities including a downhill and cross country ski area, restaurants, a golf course, a private beach club, tennis courts and a health club. I was charged with designing microsites for their Downhill and Cross Country Ski Resorts to better establish those amenities as unique entities and provide for an easy to navigate and simplified user experience. Key features included interactive trail maps, custom weather feeds, webcams and social media integration. Technology used included a mix of XHTML, CSS, JQuery, Flash and AS3.
I was commissioned to do a series of three photo Illustrations for the Tough Guy Productions website, a free-heel ski film company. The brief called for dreamy imagery that incorporated a mix of handstyle and digital techniques, and embodied a soulful, surf-like feel. I used pencil, paper, watercolor as well as Illustrator and Photoshop to create the final images.

For the past three years I have been designing and illustrating the promotional poster for the Squaw Valley Prom, an annual fundraiser for Tahoe area charities. The event itself is a 70's/80's/Glam-themed "Prom" for adults, and was named the best party of the year in the Tahoe area by Outside magazine. If you are in the areas and have the chance, make it a priority to attend.

This poster was created for the Good 50 x 70 project, where designers were invited to create a poster design to adress a social cause of the designer's choice. The goal of the project is to assist a variety of charity organizations and use design to promote social communication.
Personal Project, summer 2008.
For my business cards I wanted something that was interesting both visually and texturally, and also had a minimal environmental impact. I ended up designing and making these cards from a variety of waste material, including paper grocery bags and 300 lb. watercolor paper samples sent to my local office supply store that they were going to discard. The result was a unique card that has a good weight and also communicates what I do with a quality, personal feel. These cards have been featured prominently on the web in various design showcase blogs.

Various illustrations, design elements and photographs for the Tahoe Donner News, a monthly magazine with approximately 20,000 subscribers.
A gig poster for the hip-hop group, Swollen Members. As a long time fan of the group, this was a fun project, especially with the group's unique brand image.
