About

The EMC is the freelance design practice of Ethan Martin, an apparel and graphic designer living in the mountains of Truckee, California. The natural environment of the Sierra provides endless inspiration, along with the close proximity to the city of San Francisco gives the Tahoe area the perfect balance of creative influence.

I began my career designing outerwear in the snowsports industry, and my work grew to include graphic design. Design is problem solving, and I believe that once a method is established, designing across disciplines comes naturally. (Refer to Figure 1.0) I’ve worked with clients ranging from large corporations to independent startups, and I truly enjoy the challenges of both.

Workflow

Everyone is unique, and so are their needs. There is no such thing as a cookie-cutter project or a one-size-fits-all solution. Discovery is the essential first step involving learning about you, your needs, your market and your budget. Goals are established for your project, followed by planning and strategy to execute those goals. With a solid plan in place, a successful design is brought to fruition.
